One of my closest friends turned 30 this month, so to celebrate we threw together a laid back evening on the waterfront. A lot of the guests attending the party, like the birthday girl, have small children, so an evening out with no fuss is exactly what we all needed. The parties décor was inspired by the watercolor background I painted for her invitation. We debated matching the watercolor to the water with a blue color or the sunset with a tangerine/coral color. Luckily we choose the coral option because Target is carrying a whole line of party decor that matched that theme! Below you can see the table runners and cocktail napkins I found in Target. (sorry, no link bc I could not find any of it on Target.com)

We hosted the party at the Capitol Oyster Bar, which has a laid back atmosphere and a great river view. The cake and some of the sunset colored foods were courtesy of Tracy's sis-in-law, Cameron. She did pimento cheese stuffed peppers, cheese straws, and bruschetta, along with that gorgeous and incredibly tasty ombre cake! All of the food was divine. Maybe I will share her pepper recipe?

Another great Target find is the Mara Mi chalkboard conversation bubble, to capture funny or sweet messages for the birthday girl. And to make sure everyone kept up with their beer, one crafty guest grabbed my scissors and made a quiclk paper silhouette ...great party trick!
