Cheers Y'all: Derby Darling

allison5040

I am a bourbon on the rocks kind of girl.  Give me Woodford on the rocks and I am a happy camper.  However, bourbon on the rocks is not the best afternoon party beverage.  So in the spirit of the Kentucky Derby I am sharing a beverage that is as tasty and refreshing as the classic Mint Julep but adds some southern flair with tea.  Just in case you are looking for another option.

YIELD: Makes 1 servings

ACTIVE TIME: 5 Minutes

TOTAL TIME: 7 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 part bourbon (I used Woodford Reserve)

  • 2 parts orange mango juice

  • 3 parts iced tea

  • 1 mint sprig

  • 1 orange slice

PREPARATION

Add bourbon, juice, and tea to a shaker with ice.  Pour over fresh ice into a julep glass or mason jar.  Garnish with a sprig of mint and an orange slice and serve!  Cheers y'all!
